does anyone no what kind of fish are running in cheakamus river right now im heading up there this weekend , just wundering what bait to usse and what kind of fish can be cought at this time there and what kinda of water to fish in if anyone knows post that would be great thanks

bait ban, stone flies, deer fur, skaters as flies fish the deeper water. great dolly fishing, odd rainbows too chinook in there too.

Yes, they'll work but you probably be given a ticket because there is a year round bait ban in effect.

And just to add, unless they have changed the regs, the area below Daisy Lake Dam to a point near the suspension bridge is CLOSED to fishing (due to the chemical spill, although Caustic Soda doesn't flow upstream).
And yeah, BAIT BAN.

No worms, no roe, nothing scented.
The Upper Cheakamus River (between Daisy Lake Dam and Lower Falls) has been closed since August 2005 to ensure preservation of the resident trout population after the chemical spill. Proposal for reopening this catch and release fishery has been put forward by the ministry and it will very likely to reopen this summer (August). Stay tuned.
