Title: Any thing happening on the Stamp? in Port alberni?
Post by: aquaboy24 on July 16, 2006, 05:31:51 PM
Hey everyone..on the island doing some work for the Min of Ed, and I want to fish on my day off. Want to head up to port and either fish off shore on the river like I did last year, or head out on a charter.

Any suggestions? Is the river open? is there any sockeye?

Any decent priced charters?

thanks
Vince

Hello Vince,
If you know BwiBwi give him a ring, I believe he is out fishing at Bamfield and the Canal currently and will for couple more days.  Good luck

Now is the time for the sockeye fishery in the inlet. Troll at first light is the best time. Once the sun comes up, fishing goes down. I don't think you can retain sockeye caught in the river though. There may be summer runs to try. Good luck.

I read up today in fishbc that the Alberni Inlet is closed to sockeye fishing due to low number. I sure hope it is not a bad omen for the Fraser runs.  :(
