Bar Fishing

I have decided to give barfishing a try.  I have some meat sticks in the garage that should do alright although they are not that long.  What pound test should i put on the single action reels?  Is crome with green and crome with red still the colour of choice this time of year.  Also could someone clarify the setup used with the bar rig like how much line from bar rig to weight and bar rig to hook and pound test.
Sorry for all the questions but it would be real helpful.  I was thinking of going to laidlaw.

Wasn't going to ask this question for a few more months but might as well now since the topics open. Next year i'm going to give barfishing a try on the Fraser and I want to start looking for a setup soon. What would be recommended for a rod and reel setup? I am looking to get an abu 7000 series reel to use for occasional bb as well as barfishing, or would there be better one's? I don't feel like spending a bunch of money on a rod ($100-200 only). Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

The 11' Trophy Fraser King is a real nice rod that can be bought for under $150. I use one of my single action Daiwa M-ONE ocean reels but I have heard that the ABU 7000 is quite suitable for bar fishing.

I think a good bar rod/reel set up wouldnt cost you more than 350 bucks.  A Trophy XL rod and a knuckle buster mooching reel is what I use.  Not hard to cast  once you get the hang of it in a short time.

Salty, the bear did indeed steal my fish 2 days later and as I recall both of yours >:(. At least he wasn't like that bear in Washington that drank 36 beer and passed out. We would have been even madder if he drank our beer as well.

2:40 Gordie, the fish weighed in at 29.5. I questioned the accuracy of Salty's digital scale at the time as I wanted it to be a tyee, but Salty assured me it was correct.
