Buntzen lake if you have a boat. troll slow and fairly deep, willow-leaf and wedding ring, and worms... you will catch something if you stick to it. make sure to be on the lake by 8:30. best action is usually before 9:30, or between 10:30 and 11:30. good luck.

Drive the new Sea to Sky highway up to Whistler and fish Alta Lake for the nice Cutthroat. Fisherman casting dock, good boat launch, nice parks and boat rentals if needed.Amazing view of Whistler and Blackcomb.

Does the fishing typically remain good until part of June? See you up there this year. :)

If any of you have come out for the derby last June, you would know just how easy it is. You want easy, pink flies thirty feet of line out on a dead drift; and that's it.
-
you could try bass fishing in the lower mainland
-
you could try bass fishing in the lower mainland
tryed to convince him but he wants to catch 12'' rainbows in england that is a record. thanks for the idea though i will check that out myself.
-
ware is there decent bass fishing in the lower mainland never tried it before??
-
By june they probably are stocking some local lake in your neck of the woods. Take him to where you caught that spawner if they want trout.

You can try Mill Lake.
-
what sort of fishing tackle do you have ? Does he fly fish at all ??
are you kidding me that 12" is a record in England :-\

no that is one of two trout pay to fish ponds the other one has bigger fish. this place is loaded with fish and yesterday their was like eight of them and i got her. 18$ for first three and 5 for extra the average fish size was 12 inches and i got an extra foot owner thought she weighed 8 pounds don't think he has wearing his glasses. but he also wasn't happy at the size of the fish because it was twice as big. but rules are rules ;D

yes i am 8'' is a record there for a rainbow 12'' you would be famous there. we bought him a five weight and are going to teach him and he is excited.
-
ok next question would be where do you live ? i can see by comments that you dont or cant go far. i can think of several places that he can get fish over 12" very easily ;D
-
Those blokes in England catch roach so getting the whole meal deal is foreign to them. :) FF, again take them to a local stocked lake. Check the stocking info as it comes out around then. Some lakes after being stocked are pretty darn good.
-
Lafarge & Green Timbers can be good at any times after even the first stocking. I have 1 fly that will catch me fish everytime out there, might only be one fish sometimes but its not a skunking LOL
Lafarge is best if you have a small boat or float tubes or something so you can cover the lake better and get away from the shoreline and people walking by.
those two lakes are probably my favourite local heavily stocked lakes. biggest fish out of either is 5lbs ;D
-
Anglers can expect to see stockings at two-week intervals at Lafarge (http://www.fishingwithrod.com/articles/region_two/lafarge_lake.html), Como, Green Timbers (http://www.fishingwithrod.com/articles/region_two/green_timbers_lake.html), Rice (http://www.fishingwithrod.com/articles/region_two/rice_lake.html), Mill (http://www.fishingwithrod.com/articles/region_two/mill_lake.html), Sasamat (http://www.fishingwithrod.com/articles/region_two/sasamat_lake.html) and Deer Lake in May and June as they are in the Fishing in the City program (http://www.gofishbc.com/fishinginthecity/default.htm).
While the exact stocking dates are not known yet, one can expect stockings being done just before the BC Family Fishing Weekend (http://www.bcfamilyfishing.com/default.htm).
-
You can also try fly fishing for BIG carp at Lafarge Lake.

Pretty sure you have " confused with lbs.
Secondly, you would be doing yourself a huge diservice by not taking the time to drive to the interior. In two hours from mission you can be into some amazing rainbow fishing at that time of year.
-
sorry i stand corrected but the most common size is 8 inches but the family member was shocked at the size of the fish .

By June, fishing for Rainbows is good everywhere. All the stocked lower mainland lakes will be fishing very well. Last season (fall /09) I was catching 2 lb trout in more than one lower mainland lake. And you always hear of guy's catching the odd 5 lb der. The interior will be awesome no doubt, but if time or resources preclude going farther afield, no worries, get a copy of the Lower Mainland Lake Guide from (www.gofishbc.com). Tight Lines

Since you live in Mission, how about trying the Trout Park? It's right on the west end of town. Three hours of catch and release for $25, no licence required. Coming from Briton, your friend will be no stranger to day ticket fisheries. Loads of 11 to 13 inch rainbows with a good opportunity to pull some in the 20 to 24 inch range. I personally have taught many classes there and rarely had anyone skunked. When we hosted The Fraser Valley Middle and High School Fly Fishing Championships there some of the top rods marked over fifty bows in their three hours.
-
Here are some more ideas. If you go on Fathers Day weekend you can take advantage of the free fishing and save your friend a big bill.
Looking at a two hour radius from Mission I would recommend the Thompson around Spences Bridge; good holes at Shaw Springs, Gold Pan, down from the highway ridge, above the old bridge, top end of town, Martel, and above Ashcroft. The river is open June 1st, my be a bit high at that time but still fishable. Also the Botainy Valley above Lytton, offers some good dry fly fishing (right of the shore) for rainbows in the size you are looking for. Further up the road in the Botainy Valley are three good lakes (Pasulco, Turnip, and Ruddics Dam) all hold coho sized rainbow but access is severely restricted.

FF if you are willing to drive to Chilliwack and Harrison I would just head up to Whistler as it will take the same amount of time.
If you are interested in cutties I may be able to shoot you a PM of places where they can be found up to 18-24 inches.
Other then that the only place I can think about that I know use to have huge trout (rainbows) was Sardis Park in Chilliwack (must be under 16 to fish it) but it use to have awesome spin casting for rainbows anywhere from 3-10 pounds.
This thread could be useful, thanks for all the info newsman.

Newsman,
By severely restricted what do you mean, is this FN land? do you have to call first etc.

Ruddicks dam is now day ticket. Always had coho sized rainbow but was a slow fishery.
Turnip: Never fished it myself since the access though dry creek bed was just too much of a struggle with all my gear. Do have friends who claim to have made it in and done very well. All easy access is on private vacation property.
Pasulco is on native land. Was closed to the public around 2000, due to over fishing. May be open again contact the Lytton Band.
