agate-one of the most popular B C gemstones and found throughout the province. It is a quartz
with microscopic crystals wich give each peice its unique color.easily found on gravle bars from Chilliwack to Hope, they look almost like plastic or glass, smooth, often shiny and transparent. One sure fire way to find em on a bar is when the sun is low, look in the direction of the sun and the agates will glow with light, very cool, seen this on my last barfishing trip.Or,rockhounds will use an old water pump fire extinguisger to spray the gravle bar, making the agates stand out from the darker rocks.Made into jewlery by sanding in a tumbler.
