Jerry Wong is great with machining and fixing reel parts. He is reachable through Riverside Fly and Tackle.

A broken shaft will require a complete replacement of the shaft. Which model of JW Young & Sons centrepin is that, a Purist? Most JW Young & Sons centrepins have a shafted that is pressed in to the aluminum cage of the reel. This make repairs difficult, since the old shaft will have to be removed without damaging the cage. A new shaft will have to be custom machined to be slightly oversized to fit the hole. You'll need a good machinist and reel repair person to fix your reel. Jerry Wong is the best recommendation for this job, since he is local and has extensive knowledge of centrepin reels.
