Title: help needed sturgeon bait how to rig a salmon head
Post by: Verdi on July 12, 2015, 07:13:56 PM
sturgeon bait  salmon head how to rig it up

Pink Season is around the corner , and i have heard that salmon heads make good bait.
I know how to rig most baits but salmon head are a little tricky wondering if any body has a pic or instructions.

I assume they would eat them nose first, but how to rig it and get it to lay on the bottom with out spinning eludes me..

thanks
Verdi

Through lower jaw then up through nose, pull line through and run hook up through back of the head until 3/4 of hook sticking out past cut line of head removal.....

Works great for doe pink heads.... be ready, usually a very large fish!! :o

I have done this for many years...... ;)

I've used gills but never a head.. So the hook comes out the back and nose forward in the current?
