capilano river
« on: May 29, 2010, 01:41:24 PM »

I have a question about fishing the river between the cpr rail bridge and the marine drive bridge. Are you allowed to or is it native land? I know on the east side of the river is the saquamish nation reserve, can you fish from the west side of the river?
thanks....any tips for getting down to river by highway one? you can PM me thanks
I'm going out monday first light if anyone is interested in fishing

Short answer is No.  You are allowed to fish the west side from the CPR bridge down to the mouth.

No regs on me right now, but I believe the front page of region 2 in your Freshwater Synopisis indicates tidal boundaries in region 2.  Having said that, fishing regs are not easy to follow.  I work for transit, & am used to confusing rules!

The tidal boundary is at the CN Railway bridge.

I am sure east side is native area.
I never see notice or signs on west side trail but there has fence between trail entrance and CPR bridge.

thanks for the reply. but the tidal boundary was not confusing for me. I meant to say they should state in the regs you can't fish that section of river due to native land

The trail is very steep and slippery, so be careful.

due to pouring rain at 4am I opted not to attempt that trail this morning. My felt sole boots don't provide much grip for that

The Cap River has actually been fishing pretty well the past few weeks.  Lots of small early coho in there and a few steelhead are still around.  Interestingly I thought that the Cap only had hatchery coho but while out fishing with a buddy he nailed 2 wilds.  Is this possible? or did he just catch some hatchery fish that had not been properly clipped?
