Transporting caught fish !!
« on: September 22, 2004, 09:06:06 AM »

So I am coming out to fish the first weekend in Oct and plan on catching my quota. I will be bringing them back to Calgary to ease the lack of salmon dinners on these cold coming months. What is the best way to transport them on the plane.

Keep them fresh and on ice until you get home.  Then you can freeze them.
Fill the bellies with ice and completely cover them.

you could get them cryovaced and flashed frozen.  look in the phone book.

if you want to keep your fish fresh (unfrozen) buy a styrofoam cooler, line it with heavy plastic, duct tape around lid and main box to create a seal.

and like Grumman said, put ice in belly of fish. hint....use bags of ice for belly to prevent meat from getting water logged and mushy.

New law just passed prohibits people east of the Rockies from taking fish home.  In fact I think it states that they may not fish at all in BC waters!!  Sorry I thought everyone kneww this !!  Check your out of province regs! Might have to go to Saskatewan! How do u spell that country?

Yes, I know how to spell Saskatchewan (take note of the spelling).  I lived there for 18 years.  But it looks like you don't.
