So i got this new centerpin -always wanted to get into centerpinning but was not sure how i'd feel about it so got an entry level okuma raw II reel. I went fishing with it few times but noticed that the startup time is slow, i would really like to have a quick start up time and saw some old posts here that people have managed to change the grease and oil it? What exactly can i do to make it even better?
The pin definitely got me some fish each time !! Now i get it why people really love pinning

Maybe you've got your knob screwed on too tight to the spindle. Try slightly loosening it, just a touch.

Thanks, will try that and see if it improves !

The bearing may loosen up with use.
try using 30-40 grams instead of 20-25.
big backcast behind yourself to load the rod, finish with the rod held high. let go of the spool early in the cast! feather it with fingers to softly land the cast.
I saw some guys pre-spinning their reels as they cast overhead in a conga line.
