15 HP Merc
« on: October 18, 2015, 09:02:16 AM »

it is a 2000 model year.  Short shaft, manual start.  Starts and runs as it should.  I bought it from the Semiahmoo Marina 2 years ago, used it about 25 times without a single issue.  Safe and reliable.

Only reason I'm selling is because a 30hp fell into my lap making this motor unneeded.

$1400 - Langley
bassfreak55@yahoo.com

will be listng on craigslist on monday, but would rather it goes to someone in this community first

pics coming today...

Includes tank and hose shown.

Regular wear and tear, some light chips, sun fade, decal scrapes etc as expected with a 15 year old motor.  Mechanically sound.

Hmmm, too expensive? Is this size of motor kind of in a 'dead zone' being too big for a lot of people to use as a kicker, and too small for anything other than a small tinny? I guess the regular/short shaft will be too short for most people's needs as a kicker as well? Or do most people run 4 stroke kickers now?  I supposed most people on this board are shore fisherman as well, so my target market here probably isn't helping.

I routinely ran around the upper and mid Fraser with this motor on a 14' footer.  Typically from Fort Langley/Derby up to the Stave and all around.  Moves great being that it is very lightweight (70lbs or so).

Some nibbles, so thanks for those that did reach out to me. I guess I can consider a price reduction if nobody steps up and grabs this...

Or just store it til spring when the lake fishermen start stirring again in larger numbers.

Remember, for those 10hp restricted lakes, I hear some people slap a 9.9 sticker on their motor.  Not that I would ever condone doing anything of the sort.

Price is reasonable.
Ive actually found a lot of demand for 2 strokes in the 9.9s or 15hp range.
Super light and I believe the 15 is actually the same weight of the 9.9 for these years.
The 4 strokes are so heavy now and for small tin boats the 2stroke is so much easier and you dont have to worry about storing or transporting it on the wrong side etc.
Just wait for spring or wait till someone grabs it..

Hey thanks!

And yeah Zac, I agree.

I prefer the 2 strokes all they way.  This only weighs 75lbs.  So easy to take off and store.  Doesn't make the transom sit too deep keeping the boat more balanced.  And so simple to work on.

The 30hp I picked up is just over 100lbs.  Same as my former honda 9.9 .

Not really in the market for a trade.  I bought a 30 to replace the 15.

For sh1ts and giggles, what is the year and condition of the 9.9?

You'll get more if you wait....not many buyers this time of year, wait till people get tax returns ;)

I understand, but I would prefer to have it gone at $1200, than to store it til spring to get a couple hundred more.

When my wife sees my 5HP, sitting beside my 15HP, sitting beside the new 30HP I just picked up.....lets just say the optics are suboptimal.
