New Pin arrived yesterday
« on: March 09, 2007, 10:31:36 AM »

My new pin arrived while I was out fishing, It's a Mykiss and is a 5" drum, abec 7 german bearings and quite light for it's size...Clicker is nearly silent and used mainly to just keep your line still when traveling...I spooled it up last night with a hundred yards of backing and about 150 of 15lb izorline..my favorite line...It's kind of cool as you can retrieve with the finger holes or the handles, should pickup line quicker at this size...So we'll see...Don't think I can put the Milner aside yet as it's been my lucky set up lately... ;)

Milners are a piece of junk. Give them to me and I arrange for its disposal. :D

Really!!!! Gee thanks, Deal!!!

I heard Milner is making a 5" model called the quest??? might be worth looking into as well...this pin is lighter then my kingfisher, mine is the mykiss, the mykiss 2 has both sides ported...bet that would be a bad a$$ too but I have enough problems getting grit in my Milner...that's my biggest problem with these bearing models...it's a pain in the butt to have to take them apart and rinse um out...but who knows...these have a very faithful following so I'm not worried about you old school guys...god help you if I showed you the Angspecs out of ontario....

The Mykiss is a super light reel.  Too big for my hands but for a 5" reel, start-up is great.

Best regards from Ontario.

Planning on bringing my baby 4" AngSpec to test it on some Skeena Chinooks this summer.  Not sure if there's enough line capacity...I guess there's only one way to find out

Hey paul, nice reel! tell me how you like it. I'm searching for my next  ;) Milner anyone selling one?

Tried it sunday in horrible conditions...it is light but tough... it is also about the smoothest thing I've ever used... it took me a few casts to get the feel down, the bearings are like butter but it's different from my bushing milner... I can't say for certain what I think of it... I do know that you almost don't feel it on your rod and I'm fishing a pretty light rod... Casting it,my distance wasn't as good as my milner, but by the end of the day I was able to wing it out there pretty good, I might be having start up problems or it just needs a break in period like the Milner..
It's also nearly silent and doesn't use the heavy gage clicker the milner and Islanders use...line back out with the clicker engaged is smooth and quite... I would love to see what it's like with a fish on... I think the 5" model is a pretty damn good idea, my line pickup was noticeably faster..
