Any Chum action on the Stave?

Looking to take an afternoon off this week and try for some big boys at the Stave.

btw, do chum taste good? and I have heard that green/purple lures, jigs, works very good catching chum, is that true?

Pink/Purple Bent Rod Jigs with brass head did the trick for me last year, caught some real fresh chum with them.
I normally just smoke them, but my neighbor makes great fish cakes with them

if not mistaken was it not closed for chum salmon last year.

not close for the year. close for part of the season. You gotta read the closures very carefully.

I was there on the weekend.  There were only the odd ones in there.  They will start to show in greater numbers over the next few weeks.

I am heading out there Friday hopefully.  I will let you know what I see.  Last year was closed, but it is open again now.  No ideawhat they are expecting fro CHUM returns this year.  Has anyone heard?

No, but keep your eyes out for in season changes as there could be a change coming if the chum do not.

Fished it on saturday, caught 2 in just over an hour while i was trying to find a coho.  They are definately starting to show up... give it a week or so.

im soooo pumped for this years chum run. it may not be amazing but it should be better then the pink run this year which personally i felt it to be a bit off a let down :-\

Lots of chum and a few coho moving into the lower river on Sunday morning after the tide switched. Heading back out tomorrow morning lookin for coho. It's still early.
