Title: The problem of deep sea trawling.
Post by: Blue_Fox on September 02, 2012, 07:50:13 PM
It's probably the most damaging method of fishing that's destroying the ocean's ecosystem, including causing many species of fish to be critically endangered. We sure haven't heard much of it in the media. Maybe, there should be a worldwide ban on this dangerous practice?

Agreed. Bulldozing the ocean floor is a rape of the ecosystem that seems to fly under the media's radar. Perhaps their attention is being diverted by something else???????

one that has been getting a free ride for too long.

I have some info tucked away somewhere, on the actual catch to market ratios. somewhere in the 30% region the rest is wasted. My argument for having targeted fisheries, what you net is what you land , your quota is total tonnage caught, whether targeted or not, no by-catch.
