I hope this does send a message out... and  I hope the guy who did the beating doesn't get caught and charged because I'm sure he did what we all wanted to do at some time or the other.  Not that I condone that kind of behavior but sometimes a guy's gotta do what a guy's gotta do.

Yeah but it's hard when you loose your faverite lamiglass and silex not to be a bit hostile to anyone caught.personaly a brand on the forehead would be more to my satisfaction instead of the blessing of the court.

Hey Fish Assassin, in a way I can see where you are coming from, but I should be able to leave anything in my car even with the doors unlocked and never have anything stolen!!!! The fact that it is our responsibility to hide things or keep them out of sight makes me SICK!!!!!! I guarantee you the little s@%ts that broke into my car years ago won't ever be doing that again!!!!  ;) Anybody that steals another persons belongings is the lowest scum there is, and should be punished as such!!! If the Law won't take care of it then it is our own reponsibility!!!!

You're not getting any arguments from me Thickrick ! I remember growing up not having to worry about locking our doors when we go out to play.  People are getting fed up seeing these low lifes getting off pretty well scott free, meanwhile your insurance is skyrocketing to cover costs.  >:(

After reading this thread I'm wondering, if you find someone going through your stuff, are you not allowed to pound on that person?  If not, what are your options (besides wringing your hands and shifting from one foot to the other)?

IANAL but I believe you can use only the force required to apprehend the the little s#it.  Which might result in him hitting the ground when you tackle him  ;)

Cheers.
