I was at Lafarge on Thursday just with the spinner rod as I had to work in the afternoon
I noticed a comotion on the water and looked up to see a fly fisherman flip over in his v tube
Luckily one of his buddies was close by and paddled over to help along with two other guys in an inflatable who pulled him on board
I passed him after they dropped him off at the shore and it looked like one of his tubes burst
He did not appear to have a pfd on
This could have been tradgic
be carefull out there guys and girls

Yeah I saw that one too - poor guy.

Did you spot the other guy with the tube "accidentally" fishing with two rods?? He was casting his spin rod and leaving a good 15ft of fly line out on his other rod whilst gently finning (trolling) about the place. Even saw him quickly having to change rods when he got an "accidental" hookup on the fly.

You are legally allowed to fish with two rods out of a boat but only with one from shore. So he may have been doing this intentionally. Im assuming that the regs consider a float tube a boat as well?

As long as you are fishing from a floating craft by yourself, then you are allowed to use two fishing rods at once.

Makes sense on the bigger lakes like Allouette but Lafarge the day after its been stocked?? Thats bad ethics in my book.

Still if thats the rules maybe I should put a rubber ring round my waist, stand 2 feet off the shore and fish away

  I'm the guy closed by and helped with belly boat, he just unimaginable opened the valve by himself , and he lost his fly rod, reel and line sink down to the lake.

I never wear pfd before when using belly boat, will put it on from next time.

Agree! 1 fly rod will keep you very very busy in that small lake.

haha I wasn't saying that he should have been using two rods on a lake of that size but he is allowed to. Personally I only ever use two rods from my yak if I haven't been able to locate any fish and am trolling different depths and patterns. I suggest always wearing a pfd when out on the water, I know it's saved my butt a few times.

i always fish with two flyrods when i am in my tube. what does ethics have to do with anything, especially if i let everything go? even if i wanted to keep the fish, i am only allowed the quota anyways. besides, i think as long as you are alone, you can have as many rods as you want, no?

No, if you are alone in a boat you are only allowed two, not as many as you want.

If you are alone in a boat on a LAKE then you can FISH 2 rods simultaneously. you can bring as many as you want out with you though. I know several guys that take up to 5 rods into the boat with them but only fish 2 at a time. Once you get dialed into what the fish are feeding on most guys will put the second rod away and concentrate on the one. This is the way i do it.

I think your allowed as many as you whant of the ocean
