Title: Boundary between 29-9 and 29-13
Post by: VAGAbond on August 23, 2013, 05:37:48 PM
The map published by DFO indicates a boundary at the east end of Steveston Island, making Garry Point in 29-9 and part of the tidal regulations.   The words describing the Fraser tidal boundary indicates the the river boundary is considered the west end of Garry Point.

The map I can find isn't very clear.  Anybody have the definitive information?

Zoom in on the boundary map, 29-9 is 29-9, end of story as far as i know. Garry point park is totally open to fishing so if you wanted to go there don't worry, your ij the clear. Just above #2 road is the boundary but there's not really any good fishing spots right now around there for pink salmon so i wouldn't be too concerned about up there. Best bet is along the park, easy to get to and easy to land fish as well.

I am confused by this answer.  According to this link Gary Point is considered part of the Tidal Fraser so I assume no fishing for salmon there as well ?

Why the confusion ?? Area 29-9 is a sub area in area 29, it is NOT mentioned in the closure, only sub areas 29-11 to 29-17 are, therefor you can fish the areas that are not within those closed sub areas 29-11,12,13,14,15,16,17.

Sure people think of garry point park as part of the tidal portion of the Fraser, I do, but even if it is, that area is NOT closed, if it was then the announcement would have included that area {29-9}.

I guess one could phone DFO for peace of mind but areas are areas and that area is open still, it was never mentioned in the Fraser closure

Areas 11 to 21, 24 to 28, 121, 123 to 127 and Subareas 29-1 to 29-10 : Effective 23:59 August 15, 2013 until further notice: no fishing for sockeye salmon.
