Fish Farming In Alaska - Time to Embrace It

A couple months ago, Laine Welch writing in the local fishwrapper spent a while cheerleading the statewide hatchery program supporting commercial fishing.  She pointed to the fact that hatcheries provided nearly 49% of total fish caught by the commercial fleet, and $168 million of the $494 dockside value of the catch.  She then took the time to take a couple pot shots at fish farming, contrasting it with the hatchery program.
