Title: Fishing Tofino
Post by: X-timber-X on June 17, 2013, 08:39:33 PM
Hey guys

Going to Tofino next week. I am wondering about shore fishing spots?..  I will be looking for rocky shores, casting buzz bombs... Other than that, I do not really know...Any advice on places to go? gear to use? setups? would be much appreciated ..

Thanks everyone
:)

If you just google your question, you'll find a bunch of hits for Tonquin Beach.  I plan to be there in August myself for the first time.  Looking forward to exploring Tonquin, Chesterman and Long beaches.

High slack tide off the rocks at Tonquin. Go below the houses at the far right side of the beach. You'll see an outcropping  rock sub surface or fully exposed at low tide, cast in that direction and see what you get. I wouldnt recommend Frank Island off Chesterman or Middlebeach, fun to explore but not productive. Good luck.

I've thought about doing this while we were in Tofino last month, but ran out of time. It shouldn't be difficult to find a lemon sole, greenling, Pacific cod, perch, small lingcod or rockfish from the beaches and rocks... After we finished our charter trip, we could see schools of pile perch underneath the fish cleaning station. It would have been very fun to catch those on the light spinning outfit or a pole.

Back inthe seventies a good part of Tonquin was a nude beach.  Never did try fishing  ::)
