I did the math with Enbridge's own numbers; British Columbia will each receive approximately $8.64 per person, per YEAR in revenue from Northern Gateway. Worth jeopardizing the coastline and our watersheds for the price of two cheese burgers per year? October 22nd is an opportunity to do something about it.

$8.64 figure came from Enbridge's own estimate of $1.2bn over 30 years, BC's current projected population according to Stats Canada.

Matt, the revenue for BC is not important. In Canada, in principle, provinces do not tax other provinces for doing business on their land. We are a united country. We don't pay duties for transporting natural gas and other goods through other provinces' territories. That just doesn't make sense.
Christy Clark's blabber about not enough money is a crock. Just to make it appear that she is doing something.

Simply what matters here is the risk to the environment in Kitimat. If the screw it up, will they be able to repair it.

No.

We're in completely agreement there.  The $8.64 figure is merely ridiculing the idea of Northern Gateway revenue for BC.  Its a laughable sum even to someone entirely unmoved by the environmental risks.
