Favorite late season coho rig????
« on: November 21, 2005, 09:15:11 PM »

I have found that for coho, say the last month or so that blades have outproduced other setups by far!!!!  ::) Wondering if other fishermen were noticing the same thing?? ;) ;)

For late season coho nothing beats blades if you're playing the numbers game. Chromer and tomatoes will hit blades. I still fish roe late in the season though, to try to pick out chromers and early steel.

Pretty cool story from last year: I was fishing with a buddy last year for late season coho. We ended up spotting a steelhead shadowing some spawning coho so I let him cast to it first as he is a steelhead virgin. First drift over with some roe and float goes down. Unfortuntaly my buddy was a little over zealous and ended up loosing the fish but cool none the less.

Hmm, what happened to spoons?

Has anyone noticed that Big Steel has a tendency to overuse his question and exponential marks? ;) ;D

Sorry... Go on... ;)

10-14 for me this year.  The first 6 were on roe, the last 7 on blades, with one wool in the middle!I lost one on wool, and 3 on blades! ;) ;)

i find with the cold weather, blades help to stir up sluggish fish. also being so late in the season and the probable amount of roe in the rivers, cohos may no longer be easily inticed, as much as at the beginning of the runs.

one rig not mentioned, Dick Nites, work really well on late seaon coho. Float fish or cast and retreive them. Did well last weekend on a size 2 50/50.

That funny cause I have found that on many chilly mornings the blade bight does not turn on until later on 11~ish once it wamrs up a bit.
