Mike, don't worry - Santa already knows which vacuum sealer is the best.  ;)

Food saver gets my thumbs up!  A crappy vacum packer actually cost you money as it wont protect the food and ends up creating waste...its worth it to pay a little (or a lot) more.  The $49 one I bought at the Bay for my dad got turfed 4 months later.

Not 100% happy with the foodsaver that I got from Costco 2 years ago. I've had bags go on me quite a few times, and before anyone asks, Yes they were from different batches and I always double seal them as well. I normally do an overnight  freeze on my fish before I bag and seal them to get a tighter seal.
Nog,
I may look at the Tilia? as I would like a better one, where did you get it?
thanx

The people on the board recommended the Tilia to me and I'm glad I got it. Works great.

My problem with my foodsaver, is that it appears to have a bump in the sealing strip, causing melt through.  Can this be fixed?
