« on: March 12, 2026, 08:47:52 AM »

Hey everyone Im looking for some tips on fishing the upper squamish. Ive ventured out there a few times with a bit of success floating beads for bulls but I cant really dial in on these fish on this system. Any tips and suggestions on what to use and what ideal water levels are etc? Thanks guys!

Do you receive, and read, the Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report?

If you are on Facebook there is a Squamish area group, "Squamish Fishing" where you may be able to get specific information.

Just wanted to mention you should try jigs in  black & brown with gold  and silver to mimic bait fish like sculpins. You can even fish sizable flies like wooly buggers  zonkers & marabou muddlers under a float. Also try spoons such as crocs etc. small spoons such as a dick nit should work well in spring and salmon fry emerge and migrate downstream.

Hiring a guide for a day may also pay off

The real value in the Pacific Angler Friday Fishing Report isn’t the information of how the fishing was last week, and what to expect next week, rather it’s 15 years of Squamish R seasonal primers and explanations of water conditions, species, gear and tactics.

Somewhere in those archived reports is the information you want to know, can almost guarantee it.

Did they fix the slide on the Squamish FSR ?   Also the ashlu is fun to fish!!!! If they fixed the slide there are a lot of spots you can park and walk the river. Just make sure you’re off the main road.   If you go up the elaho you need a good off road truck or suv.   It can get fun up the elaho especially if you want to see the waterfalls or go to the end.   KM52 on the elaho has an amazing beach but you need 4x4 it’s a long way out if you have to walk !!!!
