there used to be a number of such bars though due to loss of access and flood protection many have been lost or have been turned into muddy spots where an angler will quickly sink to their knees in mud

Places I know that still can be fished are the Leader Bar in Coquitlam, Brownsville in Surrey (very small patch of sand and gets horribly crowded), and Coquitlam River bar (disappears on a high tide). Bars in Langley, Muench, Derby Reach, Two Bit (varies from year to year), Glen Valley and Duncan. There is also the Mission Bar on the south side near Matsqui. Most of these bars will be muddy particularly at low tide.

I don't know about The Dump Bar in Richmond, Nelson Road, The Dyke Bar, Cadet Bar or Annacis Island. These were once good bars but I can't confirm access or the condition of the bars themselves.

There are also small warves for fishing in Richmond, Surrey and New West. People also fish off the old Haney Warves.

Thanks Clarki. I referred to Heighton's book before I responded to this thread.  It was compiled in the mid 80s or so (published Jan 1989) so it's quite old. Another good book is Fishing Fever Mission to Hope by Eileen McQuire (1999)with a 2nd edition (2001). It looks like a digital edition can be borrowed from this website:

https://openlibrary.org/books/OL36636760M/Fishing_fever

Of course Rod did a number of articles for the parent website of this discussion board and a number of bars are listed.

https://www.fishingwithrod.com/articles/region_two/tidal_fraser_river.html

Again these will be from some years ago and I can't vouch the condition or accessibility of these today

Also look at the satellite images of where you want to try and it should be fairly obvious if it's made of that rocky rip-rap you're trying to avoid.

river mud is quite common on the Fraser for some reason, if not covered up by rip rap

As mentioned Derby Reach has sand or pebbles at high tide at least, and some of the bars downstream of Derby do as well at high tide
