Mandatory Kill Regulation for Bass in Nova Scotia

(1/1)

RalphH:
No catch and release permitted for smallmouth Bass in the Margaree River watershed in Cape Breton Nova Scotia. The Margaree River is the premier Atlantic Salmon River in Nova Scotia.

--- Quote ---If anglers catch a smallmouth bass or chain pickerel in those areas, they must euthanize the fish humanely and retain it. Tossing it back or keeping a live one could lead to a fine of up to $100,000 for a first offence and up to $500,000 for a second offence with the possibility of two years' jail time
--- End quote ---

seems pretty simple doesn't it?

I wonder why you wouldn’t be allowed to kill it and toss it back in ? Surely something would eat it.
On another invasive species note someone posted on the message board at the main boat launch at Cultus Lake that a red bellied piranha had been caught. A gag poster I’m sure.
