Mandatory Kill Regulation for Bass in Nova Scotia
« on: September 10, 2024, 08:21:14 AM »

No catch and release permitted for smallmouth Bass in the Margaree River watershed in Cape Breton Nova Scotia. The Margaree River is the premier Atlantic Salmon River in Nova Scotia.

Quote
If anglers catch a smallmouth bass or chain pickerel in those areas, they must euthanize the fish humanely and retain it. Tossing it back or keeping a live one could lead to a fine of up to $100,000 for a first offence and up to $500,000 for a second offence with the possibility of two years' jail time

seems pretty simple doesn't it?

I wonder why you wouldn’t be allowed to kill it and toss it back in ? Surely something would eat it.
On another invasive species note someone posted on the message board at the main boat launch at Cultus Lake that a red bellied piranha had been caught. A gag poster I’m sure.
