Ultralight line?
« on: February 22, 2022, 07:15:12 PM »

Hi there,

I am building an ultralight rod with a shimano sienna fg1000, but the rod still needs to be determined. I still don't know what line to get as many people suggest braid and others suggest mono. I will mainly be fishing for trout or small fish like pikeminnow etc. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks!

I have a similar ultralight outfit. A 9'6" rod paired with a Shimano Sedona 1500. I use it primarily for cutthroat and small stream coho.

6 pound braid works well for me in my rig, but yes you will get a variety of opinions.
