The First Nations want the entire Salish Sea completely shut down to all Salmon fishing to prevent any possible harm to Salmon which may be restricted by the Fraser rock slide at Big bar.

I really hope this doesnt happen.. what a travesty. Almost all fish in the marine area aren't even headed that far up. Sockeye won't even be open. Dfo are already working to transport fish up by truck..

 I swear this slide was man made as a nail in the coffin for complete Native control of the fisheries. probably not but it sure seems convenient.

Depressing thing to read as I wake up.

I heard this a few days ago. Retention of Salmon and even C&R in the Fraser has not been open at all this year. I'm sure the FN bands know this. If they do...... it's a PR move. If they dont ...... they need to do more homework.

they are also recommending the entire Strait of Georgia/Salish Sea be closed to recreational and commercial salmon fishing.

What a joke, FN  out on Fraser today with drift and gill nets. CONSERVATION concerns not a problem.

Shaping up to be the worst sockeye return on record and the gill nets were out.

Don’t think there was even a requirement for larger mesh

If there was do you think itll be used ? Common now. Even last year when all they were allowed to retain in August were Sockeye, every band was retaining Chinook. They dont care.
