Twitching Jigs - Line Ratings

Just curious if anyone here has any insight on twitching jigs for coho down here and how important line choice is. Fishing up north for them I seldom go below 12lb leader considering how aggressive a lot of strikes are and the beating they can take hitting bottom. Wondering if that holds true for these southern cousins as well?

Thinking of going 30lb braid-12lb clear mono. Also, does anyone use the ultra tiny micro jigs with the grub tail? They are a bit too small to cast and twitch but wondering about using them under a cleardrift weighted with some splitshot.....

Never tried jigs that light under a float. Since I got into jig fishing a few years ago I have left my drift rod at home and strictly twitch with my spinning rod. The lightest jig I twitch is a 1/4 oz. But I'd be interested to learn if other anglers drift fish micro jigs

Do you twitch in runs as well or are you always able to find pools?

I prefer slower moving water but will twitch in runs with a quasi sidedrift with very small twitches just to keep it above the rocks. Can be a hindrance at times if the bottom is snaggy or there are lots of staged fish, those times I prefer to short float up above the staged fish and target the aggressive chromers. Definitely prefer twitching to floating jigs though if given the choice.

20lb braid on all my spinning reels, except the 1000 I use 10lb braid.
Never tried jigs under 1/4 mostly 3/8 for twitching.

30/15 combo and use the orange label seagur when the water is very clear, although its probably not needed, considering the fish are being distracted my this crazy manic writhing thing.  I use 1/4, 5/8 and 3/8 95% of the time.  Very occasionally use 1/8 and 1/2 oz.

I have used 1/8 and 10 lbs in ultra clear, slow and shallow water (approximately 3 feet deep) for pinks or coho.  I needed the lower weight and a jig tied with double double rabbit fur to slow the sink rate so that I could keep it in the 1-2 foot zone off the bottom, without a ridiculous twitch frequency.
