Chilliwack / Vedder October 7
« on: October 07, 2017, 05:45:06 PM »

Water was beautiful today. My prayers were answered with the rain, but not with the fish.  I thought the rain would bring fresh fish into the upper river - I was wrong.  Released a few dirty springs and all I saw hooked were dirty springs and pinks.  No coho to be seen.  I was briefly fooled into thinking I had a monster coho on, but it only proved to be a spring with a pink blush - I assume it was a red spring but it wasn't very clean so it went back.  I wonder if it was a stray from another system - the spotting was relatively sparse and it also had some green hues along with the pink.  I have seen a few chinook in the Vedder with this coloration in years past, but I think this is the first one I have landed.  I was too preoccupied with wrestling my hook out of her tongue to remember to get a picture.

I fished both roe and wool ties - orange/pink seemed to be best.
