i will barely take my 20ft jet boat out there unless the winds cooperate. open bow boats in the ocean is a bad idea especially if your entering the ocean from the fraser.

Yesterday in my 17ft jet at almost peak high tide and still running fast went through the second narrows
Being almost 6pm much boat traffic with folks heading home
Staying away from the larger boats and middle channel, close to the N.Van side, a 28ft Twin OB Boston Whaler coming towards us and had to contend with his wake.
The running tide amplified and made his wake higher and a closer duration, I quickly powered down and angled for impact then ready for power to climb the wave and contend with the next
So much water came at us to the side that the bilge pump instantly came on and we were soaked

I believe if I didn't hit this wave correctly my boat would have been swamped. In this lesson I will hug the shallows when crossing the narrows with less amplified tide and boat traffic waves
