  • We need longer weekends...when fishing is good

With the heat wave that we got in April and lack of heavy rain over the past 6-8 weeks, it's not a big surprise. That, plus the affect of last year's dry summer on the snow packs. Need a few days of heavy rain in September to make things look good for the arrival of hohos  ;)

Good point, cut bait, see if the edits make it easier to understand.

I've always heard fish roll because they don't have a middle finger.

Legend has it, i once found a rock that had the same saying etched in.

Water is low and clear but just right IMO, like any other early part of the season. Some fish are still moving through. This one's journey ended this morning. :-\

The level recording started in 2011. Flow measurements seem to go way, way back.

Here what the lows (flow below 14cubic meter per second) look like.

The lowest was 7.93 in 1952.

Today, it's at 5 m3/s. So, yep, it's the lowest the river has been at for quite a while according to the numbers.

Must have been some website glitch because it's now showing ~16 m^3/s, which is still low but seems more reasonable.

4ft of fluorocarbon at the end of the braided main.

That's the way to get this party started Rodney. Nice fish!!

As for braided main line on my spinning reels, I use PowerPro Super8Slick in 20#.
At end of the braid I'll add approx. 12' of 15# mono using a Double Uni or FG knot.
Depending on water conditions, I'll add an additional bumper section of lighter tippet to suit.

I use an improved albright knot to connect the two. This is the third season I've been doing this and it seems to work pretty well. The main line hasn't had to be changed, so less work, saves more money, performs better too. :)
