Float tubes in Alta, Hicks, Jones?

Is it practical to use a float tube in these lakes? Thanks.

You can definitely use a float tube but both Jones and Hicks get really windy at times so I wouldn't stray too far from where you launch.

At Alta, if you stick along the shoreline between the boat launch and Lakeside Park, fishing all the docks, you should be ok. The north end of the lake is productive, but if you go all the way there and the strong Southerly wind kicks in like it usually does in the afternoon, then you might be in trouble.

Same thing with Jones, stick to the shoreline. When the gust picks up like it did last week when I was there, it can be ugly.

Hicks is relatively safe. You should be able to find fish not too far from the launch now, and there's plenty of shore access for you to take out in case you get in trouble.
