I was able to spend a week in Kamloops for my first experience at chironomid fishing. Mostly went to Roche and other lakes in the general area. Completely lucked out with the weather and seasonal timing and had 70+ hookups over the week, and even lost track of the count on two of the days.

A few release montages of the typical 2 lb'er hard fighting Pennask triploids that were the average size for the week:

A few had some brilliant colours! Diploid perhaps?

---
You can encounter the occasionally Fraser Valley in some of the lakes too.

---
I got the first Brook trout of my life at ~2.7 lbs. These things are fat like footballs!

---
If everything works out in your favour sometimes you'll luck into a double-header

If it *really* works out for you, you just might get another DH 23 minutes later

Sometimes the doubles are a giant and a midget. I ended up with 6 double headers on the week and 5 were on one amazing day.

---
What were they feeding on? Chironimid of course!

---
My largest of the week @ ~ 3.7 lbs

---
Apparently there are other things up there besides fish too
