Vedder Canal Tide Influenced?
« on: October 20, 2015, 09:40:45 AM »

Hi,

Lots of spots are dependant on the tide. Is that the case with the Vedder Canal? Just wondering since the Fraser is literally right there...

Of course.
Pt. Atkinson tide + 4 hours = Vedder Canal tide.

Yes there can be a short push of fish on the high tide. Usually near the front end of it. I am surprised how much the water comes up.

If you time a flood tide on the canal with first light, the bite can be very good.

I've had this tide app on my phone for years. Never really used it until this year when we bought a river boat. I have it set for point atkinson and then just add 4 hrs.

Ideally, I try not to head up/down the canal at lowest tide. I am gaining confidence driving our jet boat and will go through areas on plane before I just putted through. However often there are many boats anchored up where I want to roar through so the only option if to putt putt :o A bit stressful as jet boats do not steer so well at slow speeds.

Anyway, now I always check this tide app before I head out just so I know what is up with the tides.
