The Fraser River Salmon Society will be holding a Fraser River cleanup next Saturday, March 21. Volunteers are asked to meet at Island 22 boat launch at 9 AM. Great River Fishing Adventure is providing 3 to 4 jet boats and one by Rod Toth of Bent Rods Guiding & Fishing Co.
Some FVSS directors will also travel by trucks to tackle the garbage at Old Orchard Road sand bar after the boats and volunteers are sent to cleanup garbage on gravel bars from Island 22 downstream to Old Orchard.
Around 12:30 a BBQ will be held when the 2 groups meet up at Old Orchard.
This is the third river cleanup the FVSS has held the last few months and they want to cleanup as much garbage as possible before the spring freshet washes it downstream. Thanks to the City of Chilliwack for providing free tipping at Bailey landfill and to HomeLife Glenayre Realty Chilliwack Ltd for contributing funds for the BBQ
