Does anyone have a good idea on the ratio of line out to line down? I seem to be getting mixed messages searching around the net. Some say it sinks at a 45 degree angle, some say 6ft out 1ft down. I'm new to this lead core trolling and just want a more substantial answer from the more experienced anglers here. Lemme know, thanks!

I use 25lb test lead line and get about 8' down per colour doing a slow troll about 1.2-1.4mph

I think I'm going about 2mph so that means I'm going down about 5ft per colour...

If you are running a long leader then your fly/lure will be higher than the belly of the leadcore.
I fished 17lb leadcore with 90 foot leaders though so shorter leader will make a difference as well.
I don't think with my old set-up I was getting more than 10ft deep at the lure with 2-3 colours out.

Well right now I'm fishing all 10 colours and my dad who fishes with me says that we're about 45-50 ft down.  I see fish usually sitting in the 40-50 ft zone on my finder and I just don't want to be under them. Btw, my leader is about 20 ft, then a lake troll, then another 2ft and my spoon.  With this setup we're only catching about 5-7 kokes in Alouette.

I don't doubt the numbers your Dad said at all.
Is too bad the fish are that deep and you need leadcore for them.
Are they any bigger in there this time of year.
I gave up on the springtime fishery there as I did terrible the two times I did go.

I'd say they r about 14" on average.

Nice size, when I go in May they are about 10-11" a big one is 11.5"

Hmm might have to squeeze in a Kokanee day before the season ends.
That's quite a bit bigger than spring fishing foresure.

Really?! I've never really gone koke fishing before and I thought that they were kinda small. But if y'all r saying that they're a good size then cool.
