Chilliwack River, July 4th 2014
« on: July 04, 2014, 01:52:29 PM »

Started at 5am at the cement slab and fished our way down river, stopping at a couple places above Tamihi, a couple places below Tamihi, and took a look a Peach road after we had given up.  Didn't see anything resembling a fish anywhere.  Nothing on, no strikes, nothing.  We tried roe (both natural color coho roe and bright red chinook roe), black and red wool, white and chartreuse wool, peach wool, and plain red wool - all of these combinations of wool with and without roe.  Saw only 6 other fishermen out today on the whole river (other cars may have been fishing, but you never know).

Even with the river so high we still found plenty of spots that we thought should have held fish.  Upper river has no noticeable color at all.  Mid river and down has great color, probably 3 feet visibility.

The salmon berries and thimble berries are getting ripe along much of the river.  The trails don't seem to be too overgrown.  I forgot two things at home this morning - the net (which it turns out didn't matter) and trash bags.  Wish I had a trash bag to clean up - there are some pretty trashed make-shift campsites above Tamihi.

Hope someone finds some fish this weekend - it won't be me!
