Vid is so wacky funny.
Lots of truth to it as sometimes a little slip up boats do float away from the launch.

On a serious note on boat launching: Before backing line up the trailer straight with the launch.
As you back up keep trailer close to the dock side.
To steer it nicely to where you want the trailer to go simply back very slowly as you look in your mirrors. ( best to look in the left side mirror 90% of the time; 10% the centre mirror. )

Put your hand at the bottom of the steering wheel & from there just turn the wheel the direction you want the trailer to go.
Only works if you grab the bottom of the steering wheel.
Want the trailer to go left just turn the steering wheel about 4-5 inches to the left.
After the trailer turns bring the steering wheel to the bottom position again.

A few practise runs & you will be a pro.

Better to practise on non busy days.
Beginners taking too long will generate a lot of icy stares & possibly hot words spoken.
Ha! Boat ramp follies.

My friend and I went fishing in Kelsey Bay north of Campbell River. We were driving along the dyke between the river  and the log dump. I mentioned to Greg, what is that out in front of the boat ramp. As we got closer it looked like a boat with the stern out of the water but the bow underwater. As we came to the boat launch yes that was what it was. That was not all that was in the water. The owner of the boat launched his pickup truck also. You could see the headlights on, 15ft. under the water when we launched our boat.

islanddude really not surprised about you seeing a veicle submerged at the launch.
Bad things happen at the launch more times than people realize.

Veicles going into the water.
Or the boat rollers off the trailer & onto the pavement on & on.

Many after backing down the ramp just rely on sticking their transmission into P & the guy jumps out of the veicle.
Proper way is put in Park & set the Parking Brake.
Plus for extra safety put a wood block under the driver's side front tire.

Also make sure the safety chain is attached from trailer to boat, before backing down.

( bilge plug in & back straps from trailer off the stern before backing. Seen guys back their boat into the water & go park their veicle only to return & see water entering their boat!!!
Talk about a guy racing off & backing down the ramp again 10x speed)
