Was out in the Poplar area for a couple hours this morning at low tide.... a few jumpers here and there, a LOT of drift nets!  No love for me but a nice break in the day - always nice to get out for a bit, regardless of catch!

Up around Poplar was not very good from the shore to as far as I could tell in the light reflection, but at low tide it hits the muddy section below the rocks and stirs it up so the first 10 feet or so looks bad - clearer the farther out you go, but I couldn't see it without my sunnies on.

ah thats not too bad, the area i was at and usually fish, the water was pretty bad, fish where holding and rising 3-10 feet from the shoreline, but the water around chilliwack may as well be mud with this clarity :P

So even if the non tidal opens i don't see many fish being caught just for that reason. Going to have better chance of catching them in the vedder still for quite some time if the rain doesn't disapear soon

Pink and chum salmon retention opening in the non-tidal portion of Fraser River in Region 2 has been announced.

The Test Fisheries at Whonnock is still far below the peak from the 2011 pink salmon counts.  Some lucky dog will bring home a pink today, but lots of people will get skunked if they try it today.

You are about right. Checked out around Pattullo Bridge today and I would say 80% of people there were skunked with a few fish hooked here and there. Not worth my time yet.

any tributaries better than others for pinks at this time, if the clarity is poor? Do Pinks run up the Stave?

I dropped by there today and it was a ZOO! Lotsa people. While I was there the bite seemed to be fairly good. One of the guys I know caught his limit with no problem. I'm going to Dyke Rd., or end of 5 rd. in Richmond, lots more room to fish there.

I went Surry Dock around noon. Not that many hook ups. Only one guy had 2 and one other had one. The rest of skunked. Perhaps evening incoming tide better. Perhaps Brownsville was better.

I believe the above is only for the tidal portion of the Fraser river. No retention of chinook is permitted in the non tidal yet.

Fished the incoming tide on the south arm at No. 5 Rd, it was quite slow. I didn't see any hook ups and jumpers were few and far in between visibility was poor 8"-10" at most.
