March and April Courses, Dates & Availability

March and April are arguably the two best months of the year for river fishing within the Lower Mainland, Vancouver and Sea-To-Sky Corridor. These two months bring the peak of the winter steelhead runs and the annual fry emergence. And to get you even more excited the ice on the local and interior lakes will be thinning out by late April. With this, the month of May can bring us the best lake fishing of the season using chironomid patterns for big and hungry rainbow trout.

To help you capitalize on these opportunities right at your doorstep Pacific Angler offers courses specific to each fishery. Due to popular demand we have added a second Fly Fishing For Searun Cutthroat Trout in Rivers course. This is an excellent course if you are a beginner angler who has already taken our Introduction to Fly Fishing course. Another exciting addition to the schedule is the Tying Epoxy Fry Patterns course which is designed to give you the skills of tying realistic fry patterns using epoxy.

Do none of these dates work for you? Pacific Angler can put together private courses for your family, friends, or even co-workers. Simply call Pacific Angler at 604-872-2204 and ask for Dave, Pacific Angler’s dedicated booking manager

INTRODUCTION TO CHIRONOMID TECHNIQUES

It is widely known that chironomids are the number one food source for trout in BC’s prolific lakes. However, few anglers have taken the time to become true masters of this discipline. Those that do are often rewarded with the largest fish.

Trevor Welton, fisheries biologist and expert lake fisherman, is the instructor. This course is a 1-night theory session designed for beginner to intermediate fly fishermen getting started on chironomid fishing. However, even the advanced lake fishermen will glean valuable information that will increase your catch rate.
