fraser in richmond
« on: May 24, 2004, 10:32:13 AM »

me and the gf tried fishing out that way for the first time, not really knowing where to go we stopped along the river close to no.1 road, saw a guy fishing so we gave it a try, about 10 min into it we get a double header of what appeared to be some sort of white fish? looked like a sucker without the sucker mouth, they were spunky and jumped around alot, we fished for a couple hours , caught some suckers , a couple bullhead, and a bunch of the other mentioned fish, was alot of fun

Way to go lucky. Is that in the Terra Nova area (#1 and River rd)?
I don't see people fishing in that area before and that's why I never tried fishing there.  Were you using  worms?

How much bigger were they? The one shown above is average, they may get slightly bigger than that but that's it. If you are catching them much bigger than that, then it maybe this:

Northern Pikeminnow

Not too great to eat, as they are fairly bony. If you don't mind the bone, they can be pretty good. Wait until July and August, you can catch them up to 4lb down here. Great fun on light tackle.
