If you are fishing the Chilliwack/Vedder River starting tomorrow, please be aware of the followings.

A dip net fishery will take place from Vedder Crossing Bridge to the outlet of the Chilliwack Lake. This fishery will start tomorrow and will go for 6 days during daylight hours only.  A beach seine will take place below the train crossing bridge at Yarrow to the confluence into the Fraser River Mainstem. This fishery will be for two days starting tomorrow where most of the action should take place in the Vedder Canal. The current target is 15,000 Chilliwack Lake sockeye salmon.
The bugs will be waiting in the canal area.

Sounds like very low participation and zero sockeye catch, as of yesterday.

They are out fishing there according to the local rag here in the wack. But have to relearn how to net in Vedder as they have not done so in decades. Sounds like they may not get thier 15,000 pcs as alloted. Opening may be extended. Stay tuned...

I am going ro send a e mail now and see if I can find out how many caught to date.  :D

Got this response today from FOC.

"No fish landed only one beach went out on day one and quit early as there were no areas to beach seine from. Also the water was to clear for a successful dip net and no fish were reported caught as I heard there was only two nets tried and were unsuccessful". Sheldon
