Capilano River, May 10th 2012
« on: May 10, 2012, 05:08:54 PM »

Made my third trip of the year early this morning, hit three different spots and fished for about 5 hours. The water is a little lower than I'd like but I have caught many at this level before. Used some primo roe and really worked these holes but there just isn't much
happening right now. It's a timing thing for the few that scoot in and if you're there then, well then you just may catch them.

Spoke to five other fishermen on my travels and heard the same as I've written above. Sure is nice to get out though and I would suggest it to anyone reading this. Get away from the cars, the phones, the texting and the people and find a quiet piece of solitude on this lovely side of heaven and relax and enjoy !

Good Fishing All !!!

Do what I mean, not what I say!  If I had a penny every time a politician says that...  ;D

someone should do an empirical study to assess the relationship between posting cap reports on FWR and the number of cars in the parking lot at the river

I know what you mean Nick but honestly, if you are willing to hike and explore this beautiful river, especially this early in the season there is an abundance of peace and solitude to be found. I fished the Cap last year 30 to 35 times starting in early April and I certainly didn't expect to catch anything. Wasn't I surprised when I caught a nice 3 lber April 4th.

And I never saw anyone till late May and then into June. When I fish this early in the season I take four or five casts, enough to cover the small pool, put my rod down, read my book for ten minutes and repeat this process, taking in all the beauty that this world affords us. I'm 55 now and been fishing the Cap since I was 20 so I guess I know the ebbs and flows of this river pretty good and I believe she talks to me and I to her.

The Cap is my favourite river and offers us something so special, so wonderful and is so close to us that it could kiss us on the nose and perhaps thats why so many fail to see how  beautiful she is. People the world over would die to experience one afternoon of the many hundreds I've had. I will tell you that if you want what I have you won't find it at the Cable Pool or Dog Leg. Get off your duff and hike and explore and become one with nature and really experience it till it hurts the next day. Thats how you do it !

I wish you all the Best and hope you find what you're looking for. Good Fishing All !!!
