Fishing Report - Summer 2013

The season is in full swing and we've had some very happy clients. Limits of Springs, Coho and Halibut for most groups. As expected we are seeing some of the best Coho fishing in a decade. They showed up early at a nice size average and have been thick ever since. Catala Island and Ferrer point have been the best spots for Salmon so far. Coho killers and coyote spoons have been the best producing gear for us. Watermelon, Army Truck and blue green have been good colors to use.

Spring fishing has lit up the last 5 days. Limits in a couple hours for most boats and a nice size average. Ferrer point and off shore have been producing the larger fish. Juvenile Herring and Squid are making up most of the diet of the salmon so far. We have not scene this many small Herring around in a long time. This is great to see that maybe they are starting to rebound. There are no signs of Sardines yet in our area. The last report we herd was that they were off the Washington coast moving north. Again small spoons have been working good as well as the brown terds (imitation squid).

The Halibut fishing hs been great all season. If the weather permits us to get out to 8 mile or beyond limits are a given. We are seeing lots of nice fish just under the slot limit size of 126cm. Lots of smaller fish are being released which is a great sign for the future of this fishery.

I have a couple single boat slots left for August and some time in early September as well to fill in. With the incredible fishing so far and the bigs ones still on there way you won't want to miss out on what looks like one of the best seasons in years.
