New Chehalis River salmon fishing regulation
« on: October 24, 2011, 03:24:02 PM »

There is a new regulation that is in effect for salmon fishing in the Chehalis river that some may have not noticed, because the regulation is actually listed under "Chehalis River Hatchery" instead of "Chehalis River" on the following page:

http://www.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/fm-gp/rec/fresh-douce/region2-eng.htm

"From the hatchery outlet downstream to the confluence with the Chehalis/Harrison Rivers, no fishing for salmon"

Beyond stupid.
I wish DFO declared open season to hunt poachers that will fish it anyway. >:(

The Chehailis is a very changed river in the last couple years.
If you follow the route of the main stream, it does not go near the hatchery anymore.
Fish the main stream and you will be fine as far as I can tell. Thoughts or opinions?

So, here's a scenario...
In high water, a tributary runs off the main flow and joins the hatchery outflow above the confluence.
Legal to fish tributary?
