Oh they are open all right, at your friendly neighbourhood reserve.
Price still a bit high at $15, but expected to drop to $10 soon.

Still much cheaper than spending all that money on gas and terminal tackle.
Not to mention the crowd of yahoos waiting for the opening signal with their fingers on the rod trigger.

If you were going to sell illegal fish, why on earth would you advertise on craigslist???

I don't know exactly where those fish are from, but i believe - and don't use this as official info - area B/H and D are open for gillnetters from today

ah, that's really annoying. Don't buy illegal fish or fish whose origin you are uncertain of - I mean, from the illegal fish black market. if noone buys them these guys will potentially have no customers and no motivation to poach and or sell FSC fish inappropriately/illegally.

Well said. Problem is that many people just want cheap meat for the table and don't care about the ethical aspects. Still a long way to go to improve public awareness when it comes to protecting sea resources.

Saltwater opening for sox just announced. They will most likely announce a freshwater opening tonight or tomorrow.


Effective 00:01 hours Wednesday, August 10 until further notice, in the
following areas, the daily limit for sockeye by recreational fishing is two (2)
per day:

- Area 12 - Subareas 12-1 to 12-4 and Area 13(Johnstone Strait);
- Areas 14, 15, 17, 18 and 19 (Strait of Georgia);
- Area 20 (Juan de Fuca Strait);
- Areas 21, 121 and 123 to 127 (West Coast of Vancouver Island). Note: Area 23
(Barkley Sound and Alberni Inlet) is open to retention of Somass sockeye (refer
to FN0447);
- Area 28 (Howe Sound, Burrard Inlet and Indian Arm);
- Area 29 (Subareas 29-1 to 29-5).
Note: Opportunities in the remainder of Area 29 including the tidal portions of
the Fraser River will be announced by a separate fishery notice.
