I agree with you but why are they opening the river for the FNs and the other netters if there's not many fish in the system?

No where in the announcements did they mention that numbers are in trouble. So far, all runs (Early Stewarts and Early Summers) have been on target or above forecasted numbers. With conservation requirements met, First Nations always get the first openings. If there are enough fish left after that, then the recreational sector will receive an opening. If the run remains exceptionally good, then the commercial sector receives openings.

Kind of two different things. Just because they say the runs are on target does not mean that the numbers are not in trouble.

Thanks, Rod. My question may sound a bit dumb but when they say "Non Indian Fishery" and they are allowed to use gillnets in certain areas of the river would it not be considered as "Commercial Sector"? Who else can use nets besides the FNs and the commercials?
