Seventy-Pound Sturgeon Jumps, Breaks Woman's Leg
posted by GoFISHn at 1 day ago Tags: Sturgeon In what state officials are calling the worst sturgeon injury this year on Florida's Suwannee River, 25-year-old Tina Fletcher had her leg broken when a sturgeon, estimated to be 70 pounds by onlookers, leapt from the water and collided with her leg, fracturing it.

Fletcher was on an air boat going about 10 miles per hour in front of the Fanning Springs Public Boat ramp when the sturgeon hit her.

It reportedly slid back into the water, no word on how the sturgeon is doing.

For whatever reason, it's common for sturgeon to leap out of the Suwannee River, though there haven't been injuries lately.

Here's hoping Tina recovers quickly.

Maybe wearing a helmet full-time in Florida is a good idea. Another unfortunate woman got tackled by a monster leaping dolphin.

another SLICE of dirty fish perhaps?
