Out of curiosity, can anyone tell me why March 31st is the cut off time for the fishing licenses ?

--end of fiscal year for government.... nothing to do with fishing.
--many have been lobbying for a 12 month license same as old car insurance was due march but changed many years ago to allow to get at any time.

--with new electronic license there is no reason to not allow purchase of 12 month license starting any date.
--I actually think they would sell more if they did this. As many will recall so many people trying to get a license april first the system crashed.

Well , thanks for settling  my curiosity.  Of course , a yearly 12 months would be better.  What about prorated licenses?? did the government ever consider it??   It hard to paid a full license fee when a newcomer start off in December or later in the year.
